3 DAY KOMODO KAYAKING ADVENTURE

The Komodo Islands are made famous by the greatest lizard on the planet, the Komodo Dragon. But the Komodo chain of islands offers so much more than this. Pristine reefs, uninhabited islands, white sandy beaches, marine life second to none and land life as fascinating as the Dragon itself.

Many of the islands in the chain are either inaccessible to large boats or difficult to access. However with a sea kayak, we can travel anywhere we like. Into small grottos and bays, around rocky points and slowly above shallow reefs brimming with fish.

For 3 days/2 nights, we will explore some of the best and little known areas of the Komodo National Park. We will sleep beneath the stars on uninhabited islands, snorkel crystal clear waters and of course visit the home of the mighty Komodo Dragon.

For those that want to travel a little differently, that want an adventure with exercise as well as relaxing moments , then our 3 day Komodo Kayaking Adventure is for you.

Itinerary:

Day 1: We will all meet at the Bajo Eco Lodge where our kayaks and guide team await. After a briefing of the expedition and safety checks we will do a short practice paddle to ensure both our comfort and safety.

From the lodge we will be transferred into the heart of the National Park with our Kayaks. Our drop off point will be Mangyatan Island. From there we will paddle south towards Rinca Island. Our first night will be spent on Wainilu Island just off the coast of Rinca. We will have plenty of time to snorkel and swim. Lunch and Dinner provided. Night in tents under the stars.

Day 2: We will rise early to paddle to the Rinca Rangers Office. This morning we go looking for Komodo Dragons and on Rinca they abound. If we are lucky we may even see them eating a morning snack. On Rinca we will go on a 2 hour trek into the hills observing troupes of monkeys, water buffalo, dear and maybe even snakes.

After lunch we will get back into our kayaks and paddle north to a small island called Nusapimpe. We hope to get there early afternoon so we can have a relax, snorkel and swim. Late in the afternoon we will hop back into our kayaks and paddle for 10 minutes to Kaaba, a mangrove island home to 1000’s of bats. We will watch them as they leave their nest for a night of feeding.

Paddle back to Nusapimpe for a night under the stars. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided.

Day 3: This is our last day of the adventure. We will paddle all the way back to the Bajo Eco Lodge along the coast of Flores. We will see flying fish and if we are lucky a turtle or two.

We will be back at the eco lodge by lunch time. Breakfast provided.
